Ceramic Mixed Media Ornaments with Mary Mertes

Part 2: Thursday, December 5 | 5:30-7:30p Part 3: arrange with instructor to add wire + more! Choose from 5 mixed-media ornaments you choose what to make. You can make 5 of the same, one of each, or varied. Mary Mertes will guide you through shaping the ornaments, glazing them, and adding the wire! In session one you will shape your ornaments from clay and add layers if applicable. In session two you will return to apply your favorite glaze colors to make exactly the ornaments you want. Portrait Oil Painting Public Demo with Master Jacob Dhein

Take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime experience to enjoy a portrait oil painting demonstration from a live model by Master Artist Jacob Dhein. Jacob is a 1997 graduate of Lincoln High School and obtained his undergraduate degree from University of Oshkosh and studied for a Master of Fine Arts at the Academy of Art University-San Francisco, graduating in 2013.
Jacob currently has work exhibited at the European Museum of Modern Art in Barcelona, Spain. He began painting in 2003, and since that time has exhibited all over the United States, England, France, and Munich. His work has been featured in solo exhibitions in Paris, France; San Francisco, CA; and Denver, CO; and he has participated in approximately 50 group exhibits. He is represented in various galleries around the world and has done numerous solo shows. Currently, Jacob resides in Cádiz, Spain and focuses on painting a variety of subject matters and teaching workshops internationally. Holiday Mosaic Tray with Cindy Orzel

Part 1: Monday, December 2 | 12-3p (with instructor)
Part 2: Wednesday, December 4 | 1-3p (grout with instructor) Part 3: Friday, December 6 | 1-3p (clean and seal with instructor) Create a cute holiday serving tray (NEW STYLE!) with one of the patterns provided or bring your own! Cindy Orzel will guide you through the process of creating a holiday mosaic serving tray using beautiful glass and a variety of grout colors to choose from. The tray size is 16”x10”. Part 1 on Monday, December 2 will be dedicated to cutting and setting the glass, so students should be prepared to spend three hours in class. Students may bring a beverage or snack. If students are unable to finish their tray design on Monday, an optional OPEN WORK TIME on Tuesday, December 3 from 10a-5p is provided, without instruction. Once the design is complete, students will return on Wednesday, December 4 for Part 2 which is considerably shorter and will take approximately 30 minutes to grout the tray. To allow the trays to dry, students will return for Part 3 on Friday, December 6, and will be guided in learning how to clean and seal their trays. Looking for more studio time to work on your paintings? Bring anything you want to paint with and spend three hours with Bonnie guiding you through instructions on your artwork, including color mixing, brush techniques, composition, drawing and answers for any questions you might have. If you have your own supplies and would like to use them (i.e. favorite brushes, paint colors) please bring them. If you want to use the classroom paint supplies, there will be an additional charge of $10. Canvases are available for purchase, various sizes available. Students of all levels are welcome in this open studio class.

This course is for artists of all levels who want to understand the science behind color mixing and gain confidence in their ability to create beautiful, unified, and harmonious paintings. Students will learn how to mix colors for various landscapes, skies, portraits, and more elements. Students will create their color charts, which they will keep and refer to always. These charts will serve as an invaluable reference tool, helping students to mix colors with ease and precision for all painting projects. Additionally, students will learn about different color schemes for paintings, like split complementary, and analogous. Students will receive some simple homework to do on the first day. mosaic ornaments with Cindy Orzel

Part 2: Tuesday, December 10 | 1-2p (grout with instructor) Create a trio of mosaic scrap glass ornaments! Cindy Orzel will guide you through the process of creating ornaments using beautiful glass and a variety of grout colors to choose from. CWCC is cleaning out its glass scrap bins and can't wait to see what you create! Two ornament sizes are available and measure approximately 3.5" & 2.5" in diameter. Part 1 on Monday, December 9 will be dedicated to cutting and setting the glass, so students should be prepared to spend 90 minutes in class. Students may bring a beverage or snack. Once the designs on the three ornaments are complete, students will return on Tuesday, December 10 for part 2 which is considerably shorter and will take approximately 30-60 minutes to grout the ornaments. To allow the grout to dry and for Cindy to clean and seal them for you, students will return anytime after 3p on Wednesday, December 11 to pick up their ornaments! SKILL LEVEL All levels welcome. Windswept Pines Acrylic Painting with Bonnie Dhein

This holiday season painting class will guide you through the steps and techniques necessary to complete your own beautiful painting. You are welcome to express yourself and be creative by choosing your own colors, design, textures, and brushstrokes. The cherry on the cake … (or star on the tree) of this painting will be a thick polyurethane glossy coat you will paint on after the acrylic paint dries. Students will need to pick up their finished painting 24 hours after they finish in order to let the coating dry. You will have created a finished, ready-to-hang 8”x 8” beautiful one-of-a-kind painting.
SKILL LEVEL All levels welcome. You will gain a strong foundation for constructing interior mosaics including safety, terminology, design, layout, cutting, proper adhesives, substrates, resin, grouting, finishing, and more. Complete your window for interior display.

cancellation policy
All CWCC classes or workshops are non-refundable unless CWCC cancels a class or camp due to weather, health, an emergency, or low attendance. In those cases, the student will be notified of the cancellation as soon as possible and will be offered a credit for the class that is canceled, or (if possible) the option to move into a different class or camp being offered.
Paid student cancellations must occur 48 hours prior to class start time to receive CWCC credit.
